INTRODUCTION
“To stop hair loss is to combat sin to prevent it from happening.” – God, Almighty One
(Divine Insights from God, Samuel Emmanuel)
Hair loss is evidence of an assault waged on an individual’s existing. The weaponry used to destroy his (or her) hair growth process and hair is sin. To stop hair loss is to combat sin to prevent it from happening. It is like going to war. Sin exists to destroy you, but you exist to glorify God in the life, eternal life, granted to you by faith in Jesus Christ. Our aim in life is to ascribe to the ways of God so that we can capably combat sin and prevent any destruction of our existing, like hair loss, from happening. The flesh is corrupted, though. Eventually, that part of us will die; however, impending death of the flesh does not necessitate hair loss. To stop hair loss, begin by understanding your enemy, Satan, then gear up for battle in God’s armor, and lastly, enter the battlefield for combat.
NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE
Review the following knowledge so that you might achieve the best understanding of the material.
- Although hair loss presents itself in the flesh, or physically, it should not be approached in the flesh. To do so is futile. Hair loss has a spiritual basis and therefore should be approached in spirit (and truth). To go this route is efficacious. Exposé: The Proper Approach to Hair Loss (Baldness).
- “Cause” ascertains what makes something happen. It addresses the origin of hair loss and how it is that it happens. There are two causes of hair loss: sin and divine care. Sin is any act or state of non-compliance with God, His Word. Divine care is administration of God’s aid. Exposé: The Causes of Hair Loss (Baldness).
- “Reason” covers why something happens. Hair loss happens for a reason. There are two reasons for hair loss: dutiful work and evil work. Dutiful work is work of God, and evil work is work of Satan. Exposé: The Reasons for Hair Loss (Baldness).
First, we will talk about what hair loss is (and is not). Sadly, many of us walk by sight rather than by faith. To walk by sight is to misinterpret reality. It is important to know what hair loss is so that you can know what to expect if you choose to work on stopping hair loss in your life. After discussing reality of hair loss, we will get into coaching on how to combat sin to prevent hair loss from happening.
TRUTH OF REALITY OF HAIR LOSS
Noticeable hair loss: hair loss that is true
Hair loss, also known as quantukerion, is the condition of having hair loss in spirit. Hair loss of the flesh is the condition of having a scalp or body wholly or partly lacking hair. Spirit is the determinant of hair loss. If someone has quantukerion, then that means he has hair loss. If he does not have quantukerion, then that means he does not have hair loss. Hair loss of the flesh is not a determinate of hair loss. Someone can have hair loss of the flesh and not have hair loss. The takeaway is that if someone has quantukerion, or hair loss of spirit, then that means he has hair loss.
Hair loss is considered to be noticeable when it is present in spirit. “Noticeable” communicates that it is clearly perceptible or self-explanatory in spirit, and therefore, it is actual: it is true. Hair loss that is true can be referred to as hair loss, hair loss of spirit, hair loss caused by sin, hair loss due to evil work, quantukerion, or noticeable hair loss. They all refer to the same condition of hair loss.
Noticeable hair loss is evil. It can lead to destruction of an individual’s hair growth process and hair. If someone wanted to stop noticeable hair loss in his life, then he should not expect complete revival of hair growth process nor full recovery of hair of the flesh. For this, it is important to prevent noticeable hair loss from occurring. Prevention is cure!
To not have hair loss, or to have operable hair growth process and recoverable hair, means to not have quantukerion. There are two scenarios of not having hair loss that are worth discussing: no hair loss and unnoticeable hair loss.
Unnoticeable hair loss: hair loss that is false
If someone does not have hair loss of spirit nor the flesh, then that means he does not have hair loss. He has “no hair loss.” This is not a type of hair loss.
If someone only has presence of hair loss in the flesh, then that means he does not have hair loss. He has “unnoticeable hair loss.” “Unnoticeable” communicates that the hair loss is unnoticeable in spirit, and therefore, it is not actual: it is false. Hair loss that is false can be referred to as hair loss of the flesh, hair loss caused by divine care, hair loss due to dutiful work, or unnoticeable hair loss. They all refer to the same condition of not having hair loss yet of having hair loss of the flesh.
Unnoticeable hair loss is virtuous. It does not lead to destruction of an individual’s hair growth process nor hair. If someone wanted to stop unnoticeable hair loss caused by divine care (or due to dutiful work), then he would need to acquire dutiful work. There is an instance, however, when unnoticeable hair loss may involve sin. This is when hair loss occurs prior to Salvation. In this case, destruction of an individual’s hair growth process and hair may have occurred. It was not caused by divine care, though. It was caused by sin. Do not confuse unnoticeable hair loss with noticeable hair loss. In reality, unnoticeable hair loss can be an invaluable asset in humanity’s fight against sin.
Now that you know what hair loss is, you should understand what to expect if you were to work towards stopping hair loss under the different scenarios of having and not having hair loss.
- For someone who has no hair loss: if he were to combat sin, then he can expect to prevent hair loss from happening.
- For someone with unnoticeable hair loss: if he were to combat sin, then he can expect to prevent hair loss from happening.
- For someone with noticeable hair loss: if he were to combat sin, then he can expect to prevent further hair loss of the flesh from happening.
GUIDANCE ON COMBATING SIN
1. Understand your enemy, Satan.
“Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” (1 Peter 5:8 ESV)
It is important to know who you will be fighting against so that you can prepare for battle accordingly. You should size up your enemy and compare your strengths and weaknesses to his. Doing so will help you formulate a well thought-out battle strategy against him.
In combat against sin, sin are the attacks that we face. Those attacks originate from somewhere. They come from the mind of Satan. Satan is our adversary. He is an adversary to God and therefore an adversary to us, God’s children. He fights either solo or through his cohorts; that is, people who are not of God. His attacks are meant to lure us into sinning. Sinning introduces sinful circumstances into our lives that can allow malady like hair loss to occur.
God’s Written Word, the Bible, has much to say about Satan. Here is some intel on him.
- “Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour” (1 Peter 5:8 ESV). He is stealthy and a stalker.
- From John 8:44, we learn that falsehood is his weapon of choice, and that he is afraid of the truth; he wants nothing to do with it.
- Revelation 12:9 refers to him as an “ancient serpent” and “the deceiver of the whole world.” “Ancient serpent” must communicate that he has seen it all. He is knowledgeable about all the circumstances that we face; therefore, he knows the ins and outs of our daily living. Also, for him to be a “deceiver of the world” must mean that he is a master manipulator.
- “Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil” (Ephesians 6:11 ESV). He is a conniver and a skilled tactician.
- “and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will” (2 Timothy 2:26 ESV). He entraps people.
- “because we wanted to come to you -I, Paul, again and again-but Satan hindered us” (1 Thessalonians 2:18 ESV). He is an impediment in people’s lives.
- From Luke 4:1-13, so much can be inferred about him here, but what is understood is that he is daring and insolent; that he is an opportunist and a lurer.
- From Hebrews 2:14, we learn that he had the power of death.
From just this intel, we can see how formidable of a foe Satan is. He is crafty enough to deceive the whole world. That insight alone should tell us that a fight against him would be skewed in his favor. The truth of the matter is that we cannot combat sin let alone Satan on our own. It is impossible. Our weakness is that we are born in sin and therefore are slaves to it. We would gravitate towards his attacks as we do in reality. But there is hope.
Our adversary has a weakness. From John 8:44, greater understanding reveals that the truth would be a great weapon to use against him since he is afraid of it. Not only that, but James 4:7 ESV states, “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” It is clear that Satan is a coward in the presence of God, the Truth. He flees from people who abide in the Father and the Father in them. So, how do we go head-to-head against the devil and his attacks? We do so in spirit and truth by faith in Jesus Christ! God’s Holy Spirit empowers us to employ extraordinary offensive and defensive strategy with artful technique against Satan and his attacks. Such strength comes from Him granting us understanding and handling of the Truth. To capably combat sin, one must be suited in God’s armor; that is, His Holy Spirit.
2. Gear up for battle.
“Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil…” (Ephesians 6:11-18 ESV)
Upon our salvation, God gifts His Holy Spirit to reside within us. His Spirit is all the weaponry and protection that we need to combat sin. Even though we don His armor, we backslide. When that happens, it is as if we are not protected. It is like we are not wearing God’s armor. When we fall, we need to reach out to God for strength to get up. We need to work on fostering a nurturing relationship with Him so that we do not fall into the clutches of sin repeatedly. Here is some advice on what you can do to reestablish a prosperous relationship with God, and in so doing, regain the protection that you need to overcome sin.
- Assess your lifestyle of wrongdoings. Refer to Scripture to learn about what God deems to be right and wrong. Ask yourself: Do you put God first in all that you do? Are you practicing anything that defies Him and His Word? Undoubtedly, “sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these” as noted in Galatians 5:19-21 ESV, are examples of wrongdoings in God’s eyes. Assent to these actions and others that you will discover in your studies as sinful, and commit to wanting to rid them from your life. Apostle Paul spoke of this process of self-examination in 2 Corinthians 13. It is an invaluable tool for holding ourselves accountable in Christ.
- Repent, and confess your sins to God. Have you recognized your sins? Can you wholeheartedly confess them before God? Prayerfully you can because you are worth it! Confess all sins that you knowingly and unknowingly have committed before Him, and ask for His forgiveness. He will wipe your slate clean and put you in good standing before Himself. 1 John 1:19 ESV states: “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” While in good standing before God, we can continue to grow in Christ and approach Him about anything, including the cause of and reason for hair loss in your life (if you have it).
- Pray for insight into sin in your life. Prayer is means for communing with God. Ask Him about the particulars of sin in your life. If you have hair loss, ask Him about why it has happened to you and how to stop it. Be prepared to listen for Him. We have a faithful God. As long as we abide in Him and He in us, He will answer (John 5:17). Some ways that He relays information to us include by dream, prayer, revelation, vision, and people. Consider reaching out to others in the Body of Christ to pray for you. It is written: “Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working” (James 5:16 ESV). Also, take up fasting (and praying) to hone your fellowship with God. Scripture describes many instances when our brothers and sisters fasted (and prayed) to welcome breakthroughs. Show God how serious you are about preventing or investigating your hair loss. Sit at His feet, learn from Him, and allow Him to mold you into a warrior capable of holding it down in Christ on the battlefield.
What is happening at this point is that you are reestablishing a working relationship with the Lord so that he can empower you for deployment onto the battlefield.
3. Enter the battlefield.
“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 6:12 ESV)
To enter the battlefield is to head out into the world. “The world” is the domain of sin headed by Satan that humanity must endure. As God continues to mold us into the likeness and image of the Son, our Messiah, Jesus, we start to see the truth about the world. The landscape is bland, and people are in darkness. The world is lawless. It is overrun by immorality. So many people are adhering to Satan’s falsehoods. This can be scary upon realization, but graciously, God cures us of fear upon preparing us to enter into the world. Fear is substituted with courage in truth. Fear of the world is not of God: it is of the devil. Fear of God, though, is good: it is love.
While battling in the world, understand that this is God’s battle to fight, not yours. To do well, you must obey God. Abide in Him and He in you so that He can employ through you superb understanding and handling of the truth to combat sin. In so doing, he will rightfully reward you with the status of head of the world, which is what he had planned of you, of us, from the beginning. Here is some advice on how to combat sin in battle.
- Rely on God’s Holy Spirit for strength to overcome sin. This is a very general statement, but it must be stated. God’s Holy Spirit empowers us to positively manage life’s obstacles so that we can refrain from sinning. He does so through the many deeds that He performs in and for us, such as spiritual enlivenment, reconnecting with Himself, liberating us from the bondage of sin, and enabling us to obey the truth, or glorify Him. We should always opt to rely on God through prayer, reading and studying His Word, and fellowshipping with others in the Body of Christ. As long as we walk by faith, we will not meet any obstacle too tough or seemingly impossible to positively manage. As Apostle Paul put it: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13 NKJV)
- Apply the Word of God to the challenges that you face. Do not just hear the Word, but be a doer of it (James 1:22). God’s Word is life! The same life that surges in us by His Holy Spirit abounds in Scripture. We are tethered to its authority and should always engage in its counsel for teaching, reproof, correction, and training in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Take time to memorize scriptures that advise or command on how to navigate life’s obstacles. Have them ready to use when met with temptation. Our battle with sin is spiritual, and God’s Word is our spiritual weapon, “living and active, sharper than any double-edged sword” (Hebrews 4:12). When applied to the hindrances that we face, we ward off those evil forces that want us to fall, or sin. Also, set aside time to meditate on those scriptures. Have you noticed that when you reflect over something deeply, you can gain more understanding about it? The Lord gives understanding to those who meditate on His Word (Psalm 119:130). Like knowledge, to have understanding is power.
- Call out for God’s help when you are in trouble. Pray, pray, pray! We should always be in prayer unto God (Luke 18:[1]-8). In fact, “we do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit intercedes for us through wordless groans” (Romans 8:26-27 ESV). When confronted with temptation, yell, chant, cry, plead, lament, talk, and sing unto the Lord for help. Allow Jesus to take control of the situation, and let Him guide you to safety. Regarding addiction, or habitual sinful act: this might take some time to overcome. To overcome addiction requires renewal of your mind to formulate Christ-like thoughts over your sinful ones. Your new thoughts will come from your new heart given to you by God. Addiction indicates a hold that Satan has on you. He wants to prevent you from being liberated unto Christ to become a brilliant light that would expose him and his evil (Ephesians 5:8-14). But fear not. If you are a child of God, relax. God is working wonders in you. He will not forsake His child. As you come out of that addiction, continue to pray, rely on Him, seek His counsel, and call out for His help. Remember to listen for Father’s voice too. He surely has words of encouragement for you.
- Surround yourself with positive influences. Pay heed to this message: “Do not be deceived: Bad company ruins good morals” (1 Corinthians 15:33 ESV). Choose to be around people who are of positive influence in your life; that is, people who revere God, abide by His Word, and have resolved to not make a habit of sinning. Their goodness can rub off on you which in turn can help strengthen the good that you desire to uphold in Christ (Proverbs 13:20). Seek refuge at church gatherings like Bible studies and talks where you can interact with like-minded brothers and sisters. It is within these spaces that invaluable relationships can form: ones in which you can look out for each other and lovingly hold one another accountable in the Lord through encouragement and prayer. Positive people and spaces generally support positive “things” and ideas, all of what you want in your life to replace the negative influences that have tempted you to sin (1 Timothy 6:11).
- Ask, seek, and knock for dutiful work. People with hair loss of the flesh might feel the urgency to take matters into their own hands to resolve the matter. Instead of trusting in God to acquire dutiful work, they trust in themselves to acquire man-made alternatives, or evil works, that do not address the cause nor reason for their hair loss in their lives. Doing so promotes unbelief in Jesus Christ. This is sin. Refrain from committing this sinful act. Instead, trust in the Lord to care for your needs. Rely on Him to acquire dutiful work: work that is cure; work that addresses the cause and reason for hair loss in your life; work that promotes belief in the Christ!
God loves us dearly. When we are in need, He expects us to go to Him for help. He wants the best for His children. Jesus taught us: “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you” (Matthew 7:[7]-11). Let us apply this knowledge to the dutiful work that you need.
-
- Ask the Lord for dutiful work. Many times we go without because we do not ask (in James 4:2). Other times, we ask and do not receive because we ask wrongly, to spend it on our passions (James 4:3). If you show the Lord that you abide in Him, then ask Him for whatever you wish, and it will be done for you (John 15:7). Initially, dutiful work may have been an accessory to you, but let it become a necessity: something of value in your life that can be used to bear fruit. With this understanding, do not hesitate to ask the Lord for dutiful work because He will provide. Although God knows our needs before we ask Him (Matthew 6:8), continue to ask Him for things to further cultivate your relationship with Him and to better understand the perfect will that He has designed for you.
- Seek out dutiful work. In its entirety, dutiful work is steeped in God’s Word. While searching for it, do not seek out the work itself; rather, seek out God, and you will find it. “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you” (Matthew 6:33). “These things” that Jesus spoke of are the necessities of life like food and clothes, but His Word also applies to the dutiful work that you seek. Realize that God has a beautiful testimony lined up for you. For it to unfold, you will need dutiful work to become that walking-talking testimonial of His greatness. So, seek out dutiful work by seeking out the Lord through prayer, reading and studying His Word, and fellowshipping with others in the Body of Christ. It is by immersing ourselves in all that He is that treasures will be found.
- Knock to gain access to dutiful work. Rely on the Holy Spirit to lead and guide you to the golden door of opportunity that safeguards your dutiful work. Once in front of it, do not just stand there, hoping for the door to open automatically. Knock on that door to have it opened! God guided you through a maze of hallways lined with many doors to put you in front of the right one. He wants you to proceed and acquire the treasure that he has set aside for you. For that to happen, though, you must knock to be granted access to it. Upon acquiring dutiful work, thank Him, and make the most of it by giving Him all the praise and glory.
CONCLUSION
To stop hair loss requires that someone be an active member of God’s squadron for combating sin, and to capably combat sin requires that an individual understand the enemy, Satan, gear up for battle in God’s armor, and enter the battlefield for combat. To have understanding of Satan is to size him up and employ an effective battle strategy against him. To gear up for battle in God’s armor is to be spiritually trained and provided with battle armaments needed to effectively engage in combat. Lastly, to enter the battlefield is to employ the defensive strategy provided by God against Satan and his cohort’s attacks.
